Casey & Alex

Casey and Alex decided to tie the knot on one of the most picturesque and charming islands of the Aegean Sea, the island of Symi. It has been a magical place for Alex for years, as he spent some of his most cherished childhood and teenage holidays here, in their family house – an architectural gem at the very top of the main village. When Alex and Casey travelled to Symi together for the first time, they instantly knew that it was the right place for them to celebrate their love. The couple’s loved ones flew in from the U.S. for a three-day mini-vacation that turned out to be a memory for a lifetime. The bride and groom dreamed of a modern, elevated ambience interlaced with traditional Greek elements they wanted their guests to experience during the getaway. Their special bond with the island was a wonderful inspiration for us to create the unforgettable adventure Casey and Alex had in mind for all their guests coming from so far away!

Every time we visit Symi for our destination weddings, we get equally stunned as the first time we stepped into this Mediterranean idyll. As you arrive at the port, serried rows of traditional houses, each boasting a pastel-colored Neoclassical façade, wink with their azure-reflecting windows from the hillsides, making for one the most fairytale-like landscapes we’ve ever seen.

Casey and Alex decided to take a walk around the charming port with their photographers, Archive visual storytellers, to discover all its picturesque corners. Their lenses fell absolutely in love with the vistas!

To create an everlasting memory for themselves and their loved ones, the couple commissioned exclusive hand-painted artworks from Greek painter Vasilis Sperantzas for the wedding collaterals. They also treated all their guests to a special welcome kit with locally-made weekend essentials handed in a custom-made canvas tote.

The pre-wedding celebrations took place in Petalo, a seaside bar-restaurant with a spectacular view of the port. The couple envisioned a friendly, relaxed atmosphere set by candlelight and delicate florals. Lavender brought from the San Juan Islands in Washington State, a surprise gift for Casey, graced the flower arrangements. These fragrant botanicals became a beautiful addition to the evening, as lavender has had a symbolic meaning for Casey throughout her life.

Our brides’ preparations took place at the Old Market Hotel, an exquisite, centuries-old building with an enthralling view over the harbour. It’s also where our couple had their first look.

The ceremony was held at the old chapel of Analipsi, a small monastery in the middle of the sea. Taxi boats were hired for the transportation of the guests and the couple.

Our bride and groom said their “I do´s” under a canopy of grapevines. The styling kept to a clean palette of whites and greens, with lush floral installations on the ground that brought the setting and the landscape together.

The reception opened with Casey’s sister band playing romantic folk sounds perfectly in tune with the vibe of the dinner.

The styling of the reception tables was an elegant fusion of fresh and modern arrangements with a romantic touch. Olive twigs mixed with ruscus, lisianthus, veronicas, and white delphinium harmoniously tied into the white and green theme. Lush garlands and lanterns were suspended over the dining tables while floral installations and fairy lights lit up the dance floor. Under a starry sky, the party went on until the early hours, when the last taxi boat brought everyone back home.

Beyond our Dreams Georgia, Magda and the entire eventions team are miracle workers. They collaborated with us every step of the way to design, plan and execute our perfect 150+ guest wedding in Symi. We live in the United States and we were able to have our dream wedding on our favorite island because of the Eventions team. We had regular calls, emails, text and a few in-person meetings that allowed us to work together to craft a special, one-of-a-kind experience for our friends and family, and create a wedding day that perfectly captured our love for each other. They used their vast network of connections to introduce us to excellent vendors with quality materials at reasonable prices. They kept a detailed budget and were transparent in all financial matters. We had 3 days of events and every detail was planned and executed to perfection. As we got to know Georgia better, we grew to trust her every choice and recommendation as a true expert in wedding planning and event coordination - and you should, too! Our only regret is that we can’t keep throwing a wedding every summer 🙂 But we are sure this won’t be the last time we plan something with them in the Dodecanese!
