Persephone & James

The island of Kastellorizo, also known as Megisti, is a well-kept secret escape at the edge of the Greek Dodecanese. Modest in size, the island boasts with impressive pastel-painted neoclassical houses, narrow streets, infinite views to the Aegean Sea, and a dreamlike atmosphere that makes everyday troubles seem far away. No wonder this enchanting islet became the wedding destination of choice for Persephone and James. They gathered their family and friends from around the world in this far-flung oasis to celebrate their nuptials during a relaxed, memorable wedding weekend out of a fairytale.

The ceremony and dinner were enjoyed with a stunning view over the sapphire sea on one side, and the kaleidoscopic mansions of the island on the other, making for a stunning natural setting for outdoor festivities. The fresh decoration with a rustic soul incorporated fragrant citrus fruits and lush foliage. For this occasion, we brought together elements of current trends in wedding decór and our signature touch of exciting, colour-loving floral arrangements. This scenic wedding inspired by the natural beauty of Kastellorizo made our hearts skip a beat!

We feel so amazed by the beautiful captures of Les Anagnou and honored to be published in Ruffled blog.

In the bright and bold bridal bouquet, vibrant florals assumed centre stage. Pink peonies, spray roses, yellow craspedias, and lilac scabiosas were gracefully accompanied by the aromatic rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus to create an olfactory-worthy perfume.

.

As lavender symbolises love and devotion, it became a beautiful addition to the ritual narrative of the wedding. At the entrance of the ceremony area, we set up a rustic olive-wood installation with loose lavender buds for guests to toss at the newlyweds in a gesture of blessing after the ceremony.

The saturated bouquets of the bridesmaids contrasted beautifully against their dark purple dresses.

To echo the vibrant expression of the Mediterranean summer and the island, the ceremony decoration bloomed with bold florals and pops of citrus and aromatic herbs. We designed an aisle with a mixture of traditional Greek chairs in white-washed and bright-painted wood and garnish the pathway to the altar with lavender and lemons. Two billowing flower arrangements in terracotta pots framed the altar where Persephone and James said their “I Do’s”, with the most romantic coastal backdrop.

On the way from the ceremony to dinner, a stunning facade of a neoclassical house became the perfect scenery for the seating board adorned with themed baskets of rosemary, bougainvilleas, and citrus fruit.

For the reception decoration, we chose simple yet beautiful elements to create a festive and unrestrained atmosphere for an evening of endless fun. Traditional string lights and candles in glass and ceramic candleholders graced the long tables and paired seamlessly with the white and blue-hued chairs for a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The art de la table was inspired by Mediterranean flora with fresh-picked greenery punctuated by ripe grapefruits, lemons, pomegranates and figs. Following a more neutral colour palette to give way to the delightful food and beverages, we opted for understated white tablecloths and a mix of olive green and beige for the napkins.

This enchanted destination wedding in Kastellorizo with rustic details and a vibrant color palette is testament that the natural beauty of an intimate scenery is the perfect inspiration for an elevated celebration.
